DeckFilter v1.11 is finally here — and it’s one of the biggest updates in a while, packed with highly requested features, a brand-new Discover section, and lots of quality-of-life improvements.

It’s been almost four months since the last major release, and a big reason for that is the development of my free DeckSettings app, which actually helped shape parts of this update. Working on DeckSettings gave me the chance to experiment with search, UI improvements, and performance tweaks — many of which directly benefited DeckFilter.

The update has technically been live since the end of October, but with the follow-up bugfixes and small refinements I pushed right after launch, I never got around to writing the release article. Time to fix that — here’s everything that’s new in v1.11.

Let’s take a deeper look
Discover Page 

The new Discover page lands with one of the most requested features since the early days of DeckFilter: Steam Store search directly inside the app.

You can now browse any Steam game and open its full details without having to add it to your Steam wishlist first.

This means you can immediately see all Steam Deck–relevant information, tags, compatibility notes, and HowLongToBeat data at a glance.

Steam Store Search

You can now search the entire Steam Store directly inside DeckFilter.

Game pages open immediately and no longer require adding the title to your Steam wishlist first, which used to be necessary to fetch details. This makes it much easier to quickly check Steam Deck–related information, compatibility notes, tags, and HowLongToBeat data.

Recently Played

The Discover page also includes Recently Played sections for Me, Deck Ready, Steam Flow and Steam Deck Gaming. These lists show what we’ve been playing recently and offer a small discovery angle without trying to be a full recommendation system. They also give a bit of space to the YouTubers who support the app and help fill the Discover page with something useful and easy to browse.

GG.deals Integration

Wishlist now supports GG.deals alongside IsThereAnyDeal. GG.deals was added thanks to a user who pointed me to their newly introduced API. I had planned to integrate it months ago, but it wasn’t available at the time. The Wishlist now uses both sources to fetch deal information more reliably.

Thanks to everyone who helped test, reported issues, or shared feedback over the past months. If you enjoy DeckFilter, leaving a rating or review helps a lot and supports future development. As always, feel free to reach out anytime.

More updates are already in the works. The next steps will focus on expanding reports and contribution features. I’m also looking into Steam Achievements, multi-language support for the app, and filters for supported game languages. The roadmap is still full of things I want to catch up on, so there’s plenty ahead.

That’s how DeckSettings was born: a companion app focused on speed, simplicity, and bringing trusted resources together in one place.

You can instantly search for any game by name, see its Deck Verified status and price, and open detailed pages with quick links to Steam, ProtonDB, and HowLongToBeat. The Game Settings section collects recommended presets from multiple sources like SteamDeckHQ, ShareDeck, and Overkill.wtf, while the Best on Deck tab showcases SteamDeckHQ’s top-rated titles for easy discovery.

“It feels like the perfect way to check the games you’re interested in to see if they have not only been tested on the Deck, but also if there are any recommended settings. And the best part about it: it’s completely free.”

Noah described the app as “quick, easy, efficient, and filled with exactly what we need to see.” His feedback has already inspired upcoming improvements like a more dynamic home screen and faster access to settings from the first tap.

DeckSettings will stay free and streamlined — built for people who just want to look up settings and play. In upcoming updates, I’m planning to integrate settings from DeckVerified.games (I’ve already been in touch with the developer) and show if a title is playable via GeForce NOW, a service I recently found surprisingly awesome on the Deck.

Whether you’re fine-tuning performance, saving battery, or exploring new games, DeckSettings keeps trusted knowledge right at your fingertips.

What is Lossless Scaling and LSFG-VK?

Lossless Scaling is a small utility on Steam that was originally built for scaling windowed and retro games. A more recent feature — frame generation — lets you boost FPS by generating interpolated frames in real time, similar to DLSS 3 or AMD Fluid Motion Frames.

This feature was previously Windows-only, but thanks to the open-source project lsfg-vk, it now runs on Linux and SteamOS, including on the Steam Deck.

Caution

This tool is experimental and work-in-progress. While frame generation works in many games, others may suffer from:

• Frame pacing issues
• Visual glitches
• Input latency

You’ll need to test and tweak settings per game.

Step 1: Purchase and Install Lossless Scaling

To use frame generation, you must purchase the paid version of Lossless Scaling from Steam. Free or demo versions will not work.

Step 2: Switch to Desktop Mode

On your Steam Deck:

1. Press the Steam button
2. Navigate to Power > Switch to Desktop

You’ll perform the installation from here.

Step 3: Install LSFG-VK

Open Konsole (terminal), then run this command:

curl -sSf https://pancake.gay/lsfg-vk.sh | sh

This installs the lsfg-vk frame generation layer.

Note: This script is written for Arch Linux and SteamOS-based systems. It may not work on other distributions.

If the script finishes without errors, you’re ready for the next step.

For detailed instructions, troubleshooting, and setup info, visit the official Wiki. For community help, join the Lossless Scaling Discord.
To access Linux-related channels, you’ll need to verify your Steam account inside the server.

Please do not open GitHub issues unless you’re submitting a feature request. Use the #linux-reports channel in Discord for compatibility problems.

Step 4: Set Launch Options in Steam

To enable LSFG-VK in a game:

1. Open Steam (Desktop Mode)
2. Right-click the game > Properties
3. Under Launch Options, add:

ENABLE_OSFG=1 LSFG_MULTIPLIER=2 %command%

Explanation:

• ENABLE_OSFG=1 activates LSFG-VK
• LSFG_MULTIPLIER=2 generates 1 additional frame for every rendered one (2x FPS)

You can experiment with 3 or 4, but 2 is the most stable for Steam Deck.

Optional performance tuning:

LSFG_FLOW_SCALE=0.75

This internally scales resolution (similar to FSR). Lower values improve performance but reduce visual clarity. Try values between 0.65 and 0.9.

Performance Examples (from Steam Flow’s video)

• Ghost of Tsushima: From ~37 FPS to 60 FPS with stable gameplay
• Clear Obscure: From ~30 FPS to 60+ with good image quality at FLOW_SCALE=0.65
• Cyberpunk 2077: Benchmark looked improved, but real gameplay felt inconsistent

Some input latency is expected, especially at higher multipliers. For most games, sticking to 2x is the best balance between fluidity and responsiveness.

Best Practices

• Do not combine LSFG with in-game frame generation (e.g., AMD Fluid Motion or DLSS Frame Gen)
• Use LSFG_MULTIPLIER=2 for best stability
• Tweak LSFG_FLOW_SCALE based on the game’s demands and your preferences
• Expect to experiment per title

Let’s take a closer look at the highlights

Full iPad & tablet support

DeckFilter finally feels right at home on larger screens. Whether you’re using an iPad or Android tablet, the UI scales beautifully and gives you the space to browse your library, wishlist, and playlists comfortably.

Playlists cloud sync

Your bookmarks are now called Playlists, and they sync automatically to the cloud. That means your lists follow you across devices — even between iOS and Android — and if you get a new phone, everything’s already there. No account setup or extra steps needed.

Wishlist demo filter

Requested by a user — and an awesome idea: you can now filter your wishlist to show only games with a free demo available on Steam. It’s a great way to try before you buy, especially during big sales or while testing performance on your Deck.

Appearance settings

DeckFilter now lets you customize how the app looks and feels. Toggle dark or light mode, hide tab labels for a cleaner layout, set your default startup tab, and even change the main theme color — with choices like Default, LCD (blue), OLED (red), and B/W for a more minimal vibe.

As always, I appreciate every bit of feedback and support — many of these changes came directly from your requests. If DeckFilter has helped you get more out of your Steam Deck, consider leaving a review or sharing the app with a friend.

Also, I rely on the dongle because it lets me plug headphones directly into the Xbox controller, something Bluetooth can’t do.

The actual fix: Enable ErP Ready (S4+S5) in BIOS

After lots of trial and error (more on that later), the ultimate fix was surprisingly simple: enabling ErP Ready (S4+S5) in my BIOS.

Here’s what I did:

On my ASUS B650I-E motherboard, I found the option under:
Advanced → APM Configuration → ErP Ready → Enable (S4+S5)

Once enabled, my Xbox Wireless Adapter started working perfectly:

• The dongle powers up cleanly on every boot and after suspend,
• My Xbox controller connects automatically without needing to replug the dongle or run custom reset scripts,
• Even better, I can still wake the HTPC with the Xbox Series controller — surprisingly, this still works even though ErP cuts USB power afterward, requiring me to just power the controller on again after wake.

One small quirk:

After waking the system via controller, the controller automatically turns itself off, but I just need to power the controller back on once, and everything works flawlessly after that.

Why this fix works (as far as I understand)

As far as I understand it, the issue seems to be related to how USB power delivery and device resets work differently between Linux and Windows.

On Linux, many motherboards continue supplying standby power to USB ports during reboots or when waking up from suspend. The Xbox Wireless Adapter seems to stay in a weird “half-awake” state — reconnecting to the controller via RF, but failing to fully reset its input layer, so no actual inputs get passed to the system.

By enabling ErP Ready (S4+S5) in the BIOS, the motherboard cuts USB power completely during shutdown and suspend. This forces the Xbox dongle to fully power cycle, reboot its firmware properly, and show up in Linux as if it was freshly plugged in — solving the issue.

On Windows, the official Xbox Accessories drivers from Microsoft handle this automatically. The Windows driver performs a clean reset or firmware reinitialization for the dongle after suspend or reboot, without needing a hardware-level power cycle. That’s likely why this issue mostly affects Linux users, where xone or other drivers don’t fully replicate Microsoft’s proprietary reset logic.

Again, I’m not a deep USB expert, but based on my testing, this seems to be the reason why the ErP Ready BIOS fix works so well on Linux.

The rabbit hole of failed experiments

Before stumbling on the ErP fix, I actually went deep into Linux-land trying to solve this with various hacks.

Here’s what I tried (and mostly failed at):

• Wrote a custom reset script that unbinds and rebinds the dongle via /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind and usbreset
• Created systemd services to run the script on boot and after suspend
• Tried full USB controller resets via PCI unbind/bind
• Experimented with udevadm triggers and USB power cycling
• Even looked into “brutal” tricks like forcing Linux to “remove” the dongle from the device tree and re-add it

The result?

• These helped somewhat at boot,
• But never fully solved the suspend/resume issue,
• The controller would reconnect but never pass input events after waking up — until the ErP Ready fix.

My takeaway

I’m not a Linux pro. This was my first time really messing with systemd services and USB resets from the terminal. It was a learning experience, and I genuinely didn’t expect such a simple BIOS setting to solve it all.

Switching back to the stable SteamOS 3.5 made the issue disappear, and even rolling back to SteamOS 3.5 after the stable 3.6 update resolved it as well.

After some investigation, I discovered that the solution was hidden in the Filter Chain Sink and Virtual Sink volume settings.

The Low Audio Mystery

I found that the audio levels for these devices were set surprisingly low, around 30%, which severely limited the speaker output. The result? Games and media played at an unsatisfactorily low volume, even with the main volume slider maxed out.

I can dimly remember that, at times in the past, the Filter Chain Sink or Virtual Sink label appeared on the volume display when I adjusted the volume using the buttons while testing in the preview or beta channels a few months ago. It felt as though the Steam Deck had accidentally changed the audio source, which might have contributed to this issue. Reflecting on it, I realized that I may have unwittingly created the problem myself by shifting audio sources without noticing.

How I Fixed the Audio Problem

Here’s a simple guide to how I boosted my Steam Deck’s audio output:

Switch to Desktop Mode

Press the Steam button to bring up the main menu.
Go to Power and select Switch to Desktop Mode to access the Deck’s Linux-based desktop interface or simply use Nested Desktop.

Open Audio Settings

Click on the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).
Choose Configure Audio Devices to open the sound control panel.

Adjust Volume Levels

Locate the Filter Chain Sink and Virtual Sink in the output section.
Both were set to about 30% in my case. I raised these sliders to 100%.

Return to Game Mode

Once you’ve made these changes, go back to Game Mode.
Test the audio by playing a game or media file to see if the volume has improved.

Conclusion

Adjusting the Filter Chain Sink and Virtual Sink levels made a significant difference in my Steam Deck’s audio output. If you’ve been struggling with low speaker volume on SteamOS 3.6 or later, I hope this fix works for you, too.

Nested Desktop lets you easily switch between Gaming Mode and Desktop Mode without restarting the system. To enable it:

1. In Desktop Mode, search for “Nested Desktop” and add it to your Steam library.
2. Once added, you can access it directly from Gaming Mode.

Step 2: Install Shotty: Local Screenshot Aggregator

To manage your screenshots, use Shotty, a plugin that automatically collects and organizes all screenshots into a single folder (~/Pictures/Screenshots).

• How to install: Use the Decky Loader to install Shotty from its plugin store.
• Why it’s great: It organizes your screenshots without extra effort by creating hardlinks, which don’t take up additional space.

Step 3: Access Nested Desktop from Game Mode

Now that everything is set up, use Nested Desktop directly from Gaming Mode to switch to Desktop Mode and take screenshots without exiting Gaming Mode.

• To capture a screenshot, press Steam + R1—simple and quick.

How to Locate Your Screenshots

Once you’ve taken your screenshots, finding them is straightforward:

• Steam + R1 screenshots are stored in your Steam Library under the game’s media section.
• Shotty-managed screenshots can be found in ~/Pictures/Screenshots. Shotty automatically organizes them into folders by game or app.

You can access this folder through the File Explorer in Desktop Mode

Removing a Game from Your Steam Library on the Steam Deck (Desktop Mode)

Using the Steam Deck’s Desktop Mode gives you full access to Steam’s PC-like interface, allowing you to fully remove games from your account. Here’s the updated way to do it:

1. Switch to Desktop Mode on the Steam Deck
   First, switch to Desktop Mode. Press the Steam button, scroll down, and select “Power,” then click on “Switch to Desktop.” Your Steam Deck will reboot into a desktop-like environment.
2. Open Steam in Desktop Mode
   Once in Desktop Mode, open the Steam app by double-clicking its icon on the desktop.
3. Navigate to Your Library
   Click on the “Library” tab at the top to access your collection of games.
4. Select the Game
   Scroll through or use the search bar to find the game you want to remove from your account.
5. Open the Support Tab
   Once you’ve selected the game, click the “Support” tab at the top of the game’s details page. If you don’t see a Support tab, click the “…” button (ellipsis) next to the game’s title and select “Support.”
6. Scroll to “I want to permanently remove this game from my account”
   On the support page for the game, scroll down until you find the option “I want to permanently remove this game from my account.” Click it.
7. Confirm Removal
   Steam will ask for confirmation to permanently remove the game. If you’re sure, confirm the removal, and the game will be gone from your library forever.

Removing a Game from Your Steam Library on the Mobile App

If you’re not on your Steam Deck or PC but still want to clear out unwanted games, you can also remove them using the Steam mobile app. Here’s how:

1. Open the Steam Mobile App
   Launch the app on your smartphone and log in to your Steam account.
2. Navigate to Your Library
   Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines in the top-left corner), then select “Library.”
3. Find the Game
   Use the search function or scroll through your games to find the one you want to remove.
4. Access Support via Game Info & Links
   Tap on the game to open its details page. Next, tap the “Game Info & Links” section to expand it, then select “Support.”
5. Scroll to “I want to permanently remove this game from my account”
   Once in the support section for the game, scroll down until you find the option “I want to permanently remove this game from my account.” Tap it.
6. Confirm Removal
   After selecting this option, Steam will ask for final confirmation. Confirm your decision, and the game will be permanently removed from your account.

Why Remove a Game Instead of Hiding It?

Steam allows you to hide games from your library, which can be useful if you want to declutter without permanently removing a game. However, sometimes hidden games still show up in places like DeckFilter, making it more useful to permanently remove them. If you know you’ll never play a game again—whether it was part of a bundle or just not your cup of tea—deleting it from your account is the better option.

Personally, I prefer to keep my library minimal, filled only with games I truly want to play. This makes my Steam Deck experience smoother, with less clutter and fewer distractions, especially when I’m in Game Mode and ready to jump straight into something I enjoy.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re trying to declutter your Steam library or tired of seeing certain games pop up in DeckFilter, permanently removing them is simple, both in Steam Deck’s Desktop Mode and the Steam mobile app. Just make sure you’re 100% ready to let go of those titles, because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!

For a nicer visual touch, you can add custom artwork to Nested Desktop using the SteamGridDB DeckyLoader Plugin. Here’s how to do it:

1. Install Decky Loader: If you don’t have it yet, install Decky Loader from its GitHub page.
2. Install SteamGridDB: Once Decky Loader is installed, search for the SteamGridDB plugin.
3. Add Custom Artwork: Use SteamGridDB to browse and select custom artwork for your Nested Desktop entry in your Steam Library. This will give it a unique icon and banner, making it look more polished in your game library.

Although Remnant II and Persona 5 Strikers are unsupported on the Steam Deck, their Gold ProtonDB ratings and playtimes of around 15-20 hours and 20-25 hours respectively make them worth tweaking for a full experience. Meanwhile, Jusant, which takes 4.5-6 hours to complete, is Deck Verified and ready to go. Other highlights like Dome Keeper (5.5 hours) and McPixel 3 (5.5 hours) are also Verified, while Jack Move offers smooth RPG action with a manageable 6-8 hour runtime.

For my keeps this month, I’ve chosen Remnant II because I already own the first one (though I haven’t played it yet), and Persona 5 Strikers for its fun, anime-inspired combat. I’m excited for Jusant due to my love for Don’t Nod’s games and looking forward to the investigation elements in Remnant Records. McPixel 3 made the cut for its wacky, pixelated humor, and I couldn’t resist Jack Move for its turn-based RPG mechanics and intriguing cyberpunk story. This bundle is a win for Steam Deck users!
